So I get back to work to find out all sorts of things are just a mess. But the biggest one is my boss and I are fighting over my leave. He is pissed off that I went on vacation since I "had all this time off this year so far." We had gone over my hours, and I showed him that I was keeping track because I wanted to make sure that I was keeping up with my work. I also told him that when I was in the office, I was working 12-14 hours every day, plus some weekends. Well, apparently that's not good enough for him. And he is violating FLSA because he is wanting to charge me for full days of leave even though I worked some of that time. Basically he said that my job required me to be in the office all the time and time that I worked while not in there wasn't going to count. During the course of our conversation, I told him that I was "sorry that my dad's death caused him and the company an inconvenience" and that "we promote a family-friendly business, but we don't adhere to that." He wasn't happy with those comments, but oh, well.
So I told him I wasn't happy with this outcome and that I wasn't going to work the hours I had been working anymore. I was only going to work my 8 hours, and that was it. No more weekends, either. He then said that he appreciated that I was very dedicated and always willing to help out and that I did work a lot of hours. Okay - where is the appreciation?? I haven't seen any of it at all.
So it's time for the job search. I met with one recruiter today, talked with another one, and have a phone interview next week with a consulting company. My goal is to be out of there by July. The consulting company looks good - they are the competitors with my last job, so they'd love to hire someone from a competitor. The only problem is that they don't start someone at 40 hours yet, but it might be nice to have some free time this summer. So that's what I'm hoping for.
Or maybe I just need to find a rich boy to marry, LOL!
